Artificial

Galerie Artificial was founded in 1983 by Jürgen J. Burk
concentrating on trading with original design objects of the
Twentieth century from Bauhaus to Pop Art (orginals, no reedetions)
designed by Marcel Breuer to Gaetano Pesce. In the late
Eighties one-offs from design icons like Ron Arad, Tom Dixon and
Marc Newson were added to the gallery´s programme.

Jürgen J. Burk was so excited about the Brit Pop design scene and decided to
start a commercial range in addition to the excisting gallery work.
galerie artificial created a new line called “british design products“
with the aim of showing, selling and distributing accessoires, small
furniture and lights. Since 1995 they have been distributing
exclusive prodcuts from tom dixon/eurolounge, michael young,
bodo sperlein, inflate...... to retail shops. A lot of people got
confused about the name of his company - galerie artificial - and
so, in 1998, Jürgen Burk decided to found a new separate company for this
range –
artificial jürgen j. burk.

However, galerie artificial is still dealing with its initial range of design products.

Innovative and good design is not only dedicated to England and thus,
prodcuts from Pantone universe the Dyson Hoover and the Biomega Bicycles designed by Ross
Lovegrove and other products have been added to the distribution range.
The strong and good relation with designers (Marc Newson, Tom
Dixon, Isabell Hamm, Kay Thoss, Georg Baldele, Franz Maurer ...)
working internationally led to the idea for the artificial collection
consisting of vases, lights, accessories, chairs and the like. Artificial
manufactures and distributes the products directly via worldwide trade fairs and agents.
