Optic is a small table clock with alarm function of the legendary designer Joe Colombo. The Alessi company manufactures Optic today in its second edition out of ABS-plastic. The original design comes from 1988.
On the deep laid dial of the Optic table clock, hours are marked by viewable points. The huge hour’s pointer possesses a spherical round gap in its point with which it frames the according hours. The seconds and minutes are not characterized by lines or points contrasting other clocks, but with numbers from 1 to 60.
Additionally Optic possesses a waking function. The alarm time can be adjusted by the red pointer. The Optic table alarm clock by Alessi is available in further colours on demand.
Cesare (named Joe) Colombo was born in Milan on July 30th in 1930. For a couple of years, the autodidact attended the Academy Brera and the Faculty for Architecture at the Politecnico in Milan. Designer Joe Colombo
