Normann Copenhagen - Heima single Candlestick

The single Candlestick is the slim version of the prize honored Heima Candlestick from Normann Copenhagen. Heima offers support to one single candle. The candlestick consists of robust cast iron and appears in a minimalistic, Nordic design.

According to the Nordic mythology Heima means “home” or “world” as well. The designer Francis Cayouette chose the concept for his series of cast iron candlesticks. The uneven, nearly cold surface gives the Heima candlestick its own character, while its round form makes it look modern.

The Heima single candlestick is inspired by the Nordic open fire culture and the art movements of the 1950es, where the principal material that was used, was cast iron. Heima pays tribute to the commercial craftsmanship and the Nordic tradition.

The designer Francis Cayouette explains: ”Handicraft has to have recognition value and history. I have always been fascinated by open fireplaces and the work on the candlestick was a choice that I offered as a self-evident thing to do. Cast iron is an exciting raw-material that is in use for a long time now. It is good to handle and it gives contours to the candlestick. The Heima candlestick is simple and does not steal the show to any other object, instead it offers room for its actual function, namely the real fire.”

To clean the Heima candlestick Normann Copenhagen suggests warm water and a dry tissue. If there are undesired wax rests on the candlestick Heima, placing the product on a piece of backing paper in the oven will solve the problem. After approximately 5 minutes at 250°C the candlestick has to be taken out of the oven and the wax has to be cleaned away with a tissue immediately. But be really careful because the object is going to be extremely hot.
