Arne Jacobsen is considered the most important Danish architect and designer of the 20th century. Where this fame came from is not at least a response of his Royal-collection that he has designed in the late 1950es for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. For the shaping of the elegant objects for the table decoration Jacobsen has been inspired by the design of his legendary chair “The Drop”.
The Royal Candlestick in an impressing stainless steel look has initially been thought for the furnishing of a restaurant, as well as the whole Royal collection. But soon it has been proved suitable for the private usage. With a white candle in the holder it is hardly surpassable in style.
The candlestick is today in the &Tradition assortment and thereby in the best company of other Scandinavian design highlights of the 20th century.
Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971) used to be professor at the Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and was appointed Dr. h.c. by several foreign universities and academies. He is considered as one of the pathfinders of the current furniture art.. Designer Arne Jacobsen
