The wall clock ABW31 from Braun was designed by Dietrich Lubs in the year 1987. With its simple design and the consequent functionality it is an example for the design philosophy of the Braun design department around Dieter Rams.
The wall clock ABW31 is good readable also from further away thanks to the great dial. The simple and reduced to the essential design allows the integration of the clock in already existing connections. The wall clock possesses a high precision and it is long lasting thanks to its two AA batteries.
A great share of the Braun success had the design of the products for which Dieter Rams and the house own design team were responsible. The designer followed the ideas of the Bauhaus by their project. “A good design is as little design as possible” says an often quoted expression of Dieter Rams. The wall clock ABW31 is a classic from the Braun house.
Please note that the alarm clocks aren’t remainders from Braun, but new products that are produced under the Japanese manufacturer Idea International license. Further information here .
