The designer Julia Thesenfitz from Hamburg created – or better invented - with „Leave the light on“ an object which surprises on the second glimpse. A match placed on a porcelain cube which should stop being on fire each moment but still - it keeps on burning for hours and hours because the match is brazen and has a wick inside which is defueled by lamp oil deriving out of the cube.

The quality of "Leave the light on" is based on the convincing combination of the perfect functionality (the oil lamp will keep on burning for hours and hours), simple design and the surprising image which is far from what the eye is normally used to and expecting. The trick which is in fact not a trick is never just a silly joke and doesn’t loose its fascination altough the secrect of "Leave the light on" has been discovered.

The sophisticated oil lamp "Leave the light on" was created by Julia Thesenfitz in 2003 and has been nomitated for the German Design Award in 2006.

Please note that you should only use normal lamp-oil for this oil lamp which is NOT perfumed.
