A strainer is a kitchen utensil that is used almost every day. It is not easy to find room a the kitchen for a big, bulky strainer, for example like one for noodles, where it is ready to hand and where it does not require any additional space.

With the creation of the collapsible funnel for Normann Copenhagen, the designer Boje Estermann has already found a space-saving solution for an unhandy kitchen utensil. Therefore, it was obvious that he thought exactly of this product when he once looked for a spot for his big strainer. Like that, a flexible strainer made of tasteless and odourless Santoprene® rubber was produced, which is heat-resistant up to 96° and which has a bottom of rustproof steel.

The strainer is so tough that it can even stand the weight of noodles and freshly cooked potatoes. After use, it is simply folded together and thus, it fits in every drawer.

The Normann Copenhagen strainer is dishwasher-safe and even here it hardly requires any space because it can be washed in collapsible condition.

The strainer made by Boje Estermann counts among Normann Copenhagen’s novelties and wasn’t launched before Mai 2005. It is available in red, yellow, green and black.

Details to Strainer

The strainer was created by the designer Boje Estermann. Made of flexible rubber with a bottom of stainless steel, it is collapsible and doesn’t require as much space as other bulky kitchen strainers. The strainer is a colourful enrichment for every kitchen.

Boje Estermann was born in 1961 and first of all, he worked as CEO for a French company for 8 years. Eventually, he decided to change his career and attended the design school "ENSCI- Les Ateliers" in Paris where he graduated in 1999. Designer Boje Estermann
