The Steam Tower by Menu is a new kitchen device for the modern and healthy cuisine that is fast, simple and very tasty. Steam Tower is a modern steam cooker from porcelain with the qualities of the traditional Asian steam cooker – only with a more pure, innovative and useable design.
The designer Christian Bjørn has been inspired by the Asian cuisine: "I have concentrated on a design that also works on the professional level but improves many details so that they work better for a family’s everyday cooking".
Christian Bjørn closely cooperated with the Michelin award-winning chef Morten Køster for the development of the Steam Tower.
"Steaming is the natural and most healthy way of cooking as vitamins and minerals stay in the food, as well as an important part of lighter and tastier meals", says Morten Køster, who tested the Steam Tower and composed a collection of recipes that accompany the Steam Tower.
The Steam Tower by Menu is being put into the oven above water. When the water vaporises, the steam circulates around the layers and through them, cooks the food and adds a moist consistence to it. Also, as steam doesn’t pass on taste, this is the ideal form of cooking fish, meat, vegetables and dessert together at the same time.
“Most of the food that we love tastes excellent steamed: Broccoli, cauliflower, sweet corn, carrots, artichokes, zucchini, chicken breast, pork, turkey, fish and seafood. An steaming is even good for the climate because you can cook everything together", says Morten Køster.
Christian Bjørn is since the end of the 70s a central figure in the Danish design world. Today a large part of the honor is assigned to him, industrial design in Denmark as independent business is imported. Designer Christian Bjørn
