The timeless, elegant forms of the Kiki Chair by Artek emerged out of the year 1960, when Ilmari Tapiovaara designed it. The Kiki collection was such a huge success that the following development of furniture design was sustainably influenced by it.
The continuously quality tested chair, produced in Finland, consists of a robust upholstery and a steel frame. If one looks a bit closer to it, one will find out that the steel tube is oval, and not round as most of the steel tubes are. This subliminally offers a completely different effect to it. Also the rest of the manufacturing is orientated by the design: this is how the welds are worked flawlessly and the high quality lacquer equips the astonishingly weightless, but still very stable frame with its elegant appearance.
The apparently very weightless Kiki Chair can be combined with many styles and also used in public as well as private rooms. The Kiki collection won the golden medial on the Milan Triennial in its emerging year 1960 and it counts to the most used pieces of furniture in public areas in Finland.
The Kiki Chair is available with different colours and fabrics or leathers.
llmari Tapiovaara was one of the greatest interior architects and designers of his era. With the mind of an explorer and a soul of a craftsman, Tapiovaara was always seeking for new solutions to improve everyday objects. Designer Ilmari Tapiovaara
