Hay - Hee Chair

The idea for Hee came up of the effort, to design an eco-friendly chair and armchair, whos material is easy to recylcle. To create a piece of furniture out of one material, they avoid micropollutant transport ways between different production places, and it makes the process of recycling more easy.

The main thought was to take an archetypal chair as model and to perfectionate it in every single detail and to boost it in a higher class and also to make it simplier and make the functionality better. A clear, plain piece of furniture was supposed to be created which should fit in many places - modern, but not too time-specifc.

Nothing is too much on this hee chair, no decorations. No part could be taken off, without loosing the function. From the outside it seems playful, but the design doesn't affect its function. Throw-away mentality and environmental awareness don't fit together.

To find the balance was also important while the construction - to combine functionality and estethic on high niveau, the exact wire strenght had to be choosen. The Hee-chairs, the Lounge Chair and also the bar stool are made of a 11 mm strong metal wire and in their shape they remind on a sketch, a three-dimensional pencil- drawing.

Hee is available in the engrossment as a club armchairm, as dining chair or as bar stool. It can be looked at in the new Osloer Opera House and in the Austrailian parliament. The stckable furnitures are galvanised and puwder coated. Thats why they can be used in every kind of weather and are a good outside furniture, too.

Hay Hee is also available in further colours. A matching cushion is also available.

Design: Hee Welling

Hee Welling works as designer and University teacher in his hometown Copenhagen. The chair Hee came out of the feather of the designer and is manufactured by the Danish manufacturer Hay. Designer Hee Welling
