The Butterfly chair was initially designed and manufactured for the studio rooms of the architect’s office Austral. The three designers Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan und Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy that were workers from the office, designed the chair. The Butterfly chair became popular in the English speaking area as the B.K.F.-chair according to the names of its designers.
The architect Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy was honored with the Argentina design award in the year 1940 because of the exceptional design of the chair. Nowadays the Butterfly chair is a real classic and placed in the continuous collection of the Modern Art Museum in New York.
Manufakturplus continued developing the design of the classical product offering it in several variants.
The butterfly chair with acrylic coating is also available in white, yellow, orange, red, dark-red, light-blue and dark-blue. The frame of the chair can be ordered in a black or white colour, as well as in pearl-gloss (silver), RAL or stainless steel. Moreover also the Butterfly Mini and the Butterfly Stool can be demanded.
