The CTM Table is a part of the Plywood Group, which the designer couple Charles and Ray Eames designed for Vitra in the 40ties of the 20th century. CTM stands for "Coffee Table Metal" and is easily combined with the other Plywood-Group products. Because of its simple design, it fits in every ensemble.
After various experiments to create a round coffee table, in 1946 Charles and Ray Eames came up with their "round coffee table with metal legs", a simple occasional table with a round plywood tabletop slightly raised at the edges and four slim tubular steel legs. The table goes well with the other designs in the Charles and Ray Eames Plywood Group.
The meeting with the legendary designer couple Charles and Ray Eames was for Vitra a fundamental meaning: With the production of their designs in 1957 started the history of the manufacturer as a furniture producer. Charles and Ray Eames impressed Vitra a lot.
