Wogg 47 was designed by Frédéric Dedelley for the Swiss company Wogg in the year 2008. The goal of the designer was to create a chair which would surprise with weightlessness and convince with its seating comfort.
The design adopts the craftsman embossed tradition of the Danish sitting furniture of the 1950es and reinterprets it for contemporaneous industrial manufactory. The contrast between its filigree, expressive wooden frame and the rather fat appearance of the seating cushion offers the expressive character to Wogg 47.
Initially, the Wogg manufacturer wasn’t convinced by the work at the project of Frédéric Dedelley. The curious geometry of the slender frame of the chair however, could convince the persons responsible of the Swiss company. Soon an insect-like principle was chosen for the final appearance of the lounger: a slim legs construction in combination with a wide top. The special developed cushions with their extreme strength and the high comfort fulfilled then also the technic-innovative demand of Wogg.
Wogg 47 was presented for the first time on the Milan Furniture Fair 2008. Wogg offers the chair with many different coatings. The frame thereby always consists of ash wood and it is available whether nature lacquered, or black lacquered.
Frédéric Dedelley was born in France in 1964. He graduated at Industrial Design at the University of Applied Arts in Lausanne and made his bachelor of sciences of product design at the Art Center College of Design, Europe. Designer Frédéric Dedelley
