One Step Up is a shelf from Normann Copenhagen whose simple and straight-lined design summarizes form, material and function to one unity. One Step Up creates room and storage possibilities, but it can also easily be used as a room divider.

The designer Francis Cayouette was inspired by a ladder for One Step Up and created a flexible furnishing item that is ideally suitable for the storage of different things and can be easily moved. Cayouette has used the characteristic form of a ladder and inserted the mobility of the object in his design.

Details like the fittings of the shelf are emphasized in the One Step Up shelf design offering authenticity. The connection of natural ash wood and functional metal deposits creates dynamism. The high quality materials are connected to a united, completed form.

The designer Francis Cayouette explains: ”Multifunctionality is an important theme for me. I wanted to create a flexibly usable shelf that can be mover without annoying disassembling procedures creating new rooms at home or in offices like that. The idea of creating the form of a classic ladder that can be easily folded and moved seemed logical to me. The result was a shelf with visual fittings and wooden frames that looked like a ladder but possessed the quality and condition that characterizes outstanding furniture.”

Besides the high One Step Up by Normann Copenhagen, there is also a low edition: One Step Up (low). Both of them are also wonderfully combinable.
