What makes these simple boxes special?

The form. The simple squares are expandable to a large, exceptional books shelf. The designer Peter Maringold didn’t only design a shelf as all of us know it, but an artwork which is also an eye-catcher unfilled.

The sculpturalness. The Split Boxes are wall-mounted container that are irregular in their appearance but that can be assembled individually. The sum of the edges of every module is always 360°, it doesn’t matter how they are assorted. The geometry and the natural material enable a peaceful and quite image. And the shelf naturally won’t only offer books a great home…

The ecologically friendly components of the Split Boxes out of the year 2009 consist of modular wooden elements and are delivered in a set of 3 pieces (small, medium, large). Peter Maringold mainly works with natural wood. That the original idea of the designer looked just the same as the result is hard to believe: simple and simply realized.
