Railo (the word for chasm in Finnish) is a magazine rack or waste-paper bin. The idea of Designer Mikko Laakkonen was to create a simple and functional form with a strong Nordic flavour.

Railo is made up of a base and three plates which offer variations in shape and colour. The gaps or chasms between the plates give the object a unique spirit.

Casamania’s Railo waste paper basket is on request also available singlecoloured in light green and in the multicoloured versions white/grey and white/green.

Mikko Laakkonen was born in Espoo, Finland in 1974. After training as a musical instrument maker he studied design at the Kymenlaakso Polytechnic (Bachelors of Arts degree) and at University of arts and Design Helsinki (Master of Arts degree). Designer Mikko Laakkonen
