Garbino from Umbra is the suitable dustbin for offices and working rooms in its unobtrusive, weightless design. Filled with paper waste it clearly expresses: I have nothing to hide!
The form reminds us of something – no wonder, because Garbino Mesh is a direct follower of the legendary dustbin Garbo that has been designed by the multinational star designer Karim Rashid in 1996 in his first commissioned work for Umbra and honoured with the Good Design Award, and that is today in the permanent exposition of the New York MoMa. Garbino has already then been the “small brother” of the original basket by the time it emerged and has been co-honoured. The design has been given new weightlessness in the Mesh-Look.
The native Egyptian Rashid reached once again to pass his design-enthusiasm to the everyday life with Garbino Mesh, and gave a suitable, fresh expression to a hardly noticed object like this. The swung forms and the transparent material simply act exhilarating!
Karim Rashid was born in Egypt, raised in England, educated in Canada, and worked in Italy for a few years before opening his own studio in New York in 1993. Designer Karim Rashid
