As textiles designer, architect, interior designer and collector, Alexander Girard developed materials and patterns that conform with the most innovative furniture of his time in the textiles department of Herman Miller in a leading position from 1952 to 1975. At that time also the design of the Love Cushion emerged which is produced by the manufacturer Maximo after the original creation from Alexander Girard today.

The Love Cushion consists of 100% cotton and appears with a huge, red heart and a Love-writing in its middle. Furthermore, at the lower border there is a writing with the signature of Alexander Girard.

Alexander Girard counts to the most embossing figures of the American design of the post-war-period together with George Nelson as well as Charles and Ray Eames. The designs from Girard are still distributed by manufacturers like Maximo, Herman Miller, Vitra and other producers. They haven’t lost any of their actuality until today.
