The cushion Maharam: Names crimson on white was designed by Alexander Girard in the year 1957. As the name indicates, the cushions pattern looks like an ornate signature. Colours and design are kept simple so that the cushion enters contemporaneous and classic furnishings seamlessly. The cushion consists of feathers and polyurethane foam.
Many of the great architectures and designers of the 20th century occupied themselves with textile design, translating their idea of colours, forms and materials in it. The New Yorker design company Maharam reedited some of the most important furniture designs with a high quality in its colours and original in its weaving techniques.
The sofa and seat cushions from the “Textiles of the 20th century” series from Vitra are the ideal supplement to the furniture from Charles & Ray Eames, George Nelson and Verner Panton, also setting accents in contemporaneous and classic interiors.
Alexander Girard, born 1907 in New York City, counts to the most embossing representatives of the American post-war design together with George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames. Designer Alexander Girard
