“Initially I wanted to design a range of small homely sculptures, small animal-pairs such as a mother with its child. They should hang from the bathroom-ceiling, guard on the night table or watch on the kitchen table while cooking. They should seem ironic, leaning on thousands of images that are saved in our fantasy. They should be weightless so that they could be used as desired, out of foam or a similar material, with Lycra coatings as if it was a cap. I created a prototype out of plaster to see how their dimensions suit in a furnished surrounding, if they work and appeared pretty, and if I really needed a pair that hangs from the ceiling. At that point I asked myself if I shouldn’t maybe present my project to some companies. However, I thought it should be a something market-adapted to be interesting, not only good-looking but also util.
And then it became a production-project. We began designing fabrics and were inspired by the great ones that have already been successful before. Searching the best, we finally achieved in doing something beautiful, better than I ever expected.“ Pier Paolo Pitacco
I Love Animals is a side lamp with the shape of an oversized sparrow with a white lacquered, grid-like metal frame which is tensed by an elastic fabric. Pier Paolo Pitacco wanted the lamp to mirror reality symbolically: The metal frame is the skeleton of the lamp and the cover is the feathers-corpus. The different colours illuminated lamp-corpus offers the possibility of setting a manual sequence with five colours, so that the light is adapted to the daytime, the mood or the activity.
The lamp I Love Animals is equipped with a multicolour LED-illuminant (white, blue, red, yellow, fuchsia and green) and is delivered with a colourful, elastic cover as well as a white change-cover.
