With the BL9 L Bestlite presents an enlarged model of the BL9 pendant lamp with a diameter of 40 cm. The classic and functionalistic design of the known BL series by Robert Dudley Best meets the highest demands in terms of form and function.

The elegant BL9 L pendant lamp fits any room well despite its size. Due to its dimensions it is perfectly suitable for lighting larger rooms or tables. The simple design of the lamp fits every room and it looks elegant both in the background and as the centre of an ensemble.

The simple design of the BL lamps has been adjusted to the requirements of a pendant light for the BL9. It is therefore even more reduced but not any less classic and elegant. The belonging of the BL9 L to the family of Bauhaus lamps is clearly visible due to the functional and characteristic design.

When Robert Dudley Best designed the lamps of the BL series in the 1930s they were revolutionary simple and of unusually clear and functional forms. They are still regarded as examples of classic Bauhaus design. This has been enforced by the British designers close contacts to Dessau, Weimar and Berlin, which were the centers of the Bauhaus movement back then.

Even the British premier Winston Churchill had a BL1 lamp standing on his desk in Whitehall and many architects and designers made some great designs under its light.

Robert Dudley Best (1892-1984) studied at the Düsseldorf School for Industrial Design and later on at the Furniture Atelier in Paris. 1930 he designed his revolutionary lamp in the Bauhaus style and counts to the most famous British designers since then. Designer Robert Dudley Best
