The suspension fixture Splügen Bräu was created in 1961 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for the restaurant and brewhouse Splügen Bräu in Milan. Splügen Bräu was build in 1960 but destroyed already in 1981. The brothers Castiglioni designed also other objects for the Splügen Bräu building, i. e. the famous bar stool “Spugla” or the beer glasses “Spüglen”.
Splügen Bräu is a suspension fixture which provides direct light. The reflector consists of polished zapon-varnished spun aluminium.
The ceiling fitting is made of steel whereas the rose is consisting of gloss white finished vacuum-formed ABS (UL-94 V2). The power cord is PVC coated and has a length of 220 cm. However, Splügen Bräu is also available as a version C which is suitable especially for high ceilings. As the version C, the power cord is 400 cm long and also has a counterweight. The net weight is 2.7 kg. The net weight for the version with the short power cord is 1.5 kg. It does not have a counterweight there.
