The noble suspension Taraxacum 88 S1 was designed by Achille Castiglioni for the manufacturer Flos in the year 1988. Castiglioni was inspired by the dandelion when creating the lamp Taraxacum which is the Latin word for this blowball.
Whether you are thinking of a blowball, an atomic model or soap bubbles, the exceptional form of this suspension leads to numerous different interpretations.
Taraxacum is a suspension for direct and reflective light. It consists of 20 triangles of polished aluminium guss. In order to take its effect, the Taraxacum suspension has to be equipped with 60 Globe-lamps (60 x 40W or 60 x 25W E 27 IAG).
The ceiling fastening and the canopy are made of steel. The hanging cord of steel has an effective length of 5, 50 m. The net weight of the lamp is 10,6 kg.
On request the larger version Taraxacum 88 S2 is also available.
