Iittala - Kastehelmi Glitter Balls

These glitter balls from Iittala appear in the well-known Kastehelmi design from Oiva Toikka. The distinctive pattern out of small drops decorates the transparent glass balls at several places. In combination with a red band, they spread Christmas-like moods and can wonderfully be fixed at the Christmas tree, the window frames and at other places.

The original design from Kastehelmi originated in the year 1964. Oiva Toikka’s design is strongly influenced by nature: the drops at the outside of the glass remind of morning dew in the sunlight. At the same time, Toikka uses the drops to hide seams which appeared at the surface during the production of the glass pieces.

The distinctive drops-design has a high recognition value and also decorated bowls, plates and serviettes, besides the glitter balls.

The Kastehelmi glitter balls from Iittala are a special edition to Christmas and therefore only available until December the 31st of 2011!
