Officina Alessi - Socrates corkscrew

With the Socrates corkscrew, the designer Jasper Morrison gets nearer to the archetype corkscrew. The corkscrew renounces every unnecessary detail and it focuses on the absolutely essential.

Furthermore the Socrates corkscrew humorously refers to its name giver, the ancient philosopher Socrates and his so-called Socratic Method. The Socratic Method is a method to reach knowledge and recognize the essential answers in a conversation.

As well as the philosopher wanted to achieve the real recognition with his method of communication in a conversation, the corkscrew Socrates also helps to reach the important core – and this finally is the insert of a bottle when it is opened.

This makes the corkscrew from Jasper Morrison from the Officina Alessi collection a humorous confrontation with a complex topic in a sophisticated design. With this it corresponds to the Officina Alessi collection credo from which the most demanding and noble products from the Alessi house appear.
