Michael Graves became famous as architect with his buildings, when he started in the world of the product design in 1980. Alberto Alessi counts his work with Graves as „one of my best experiences as design manager“, „his way was enthusiastic and contradictorily, he was embossed by big successes and popularity“. In the new branch Graves act was seen very chritical. However, his works still rejoice with big popularity.

The manifest shape of a rocket inspired salt cellar, belongs like the matching pepper mill 9098 to the most famous products, which Graves designed for Alessi. Where the pepper mill, with its characteristic wings, attends on the salt cellar made of stainless steel with his lid and closure made of PA. With his products Graves has a share that Alessi can position itself since the 80s as innovative and keen on experimenting.
