Surprising moments emerge when well known objects suddenly get a new purpose. This is also the case for the salt and pepper casters Taste of Talking from the designer Henk Stallinga.
Both casters are made out of receiver and mouthpiece of a classic telephone. To complete the misappropriation, the two if them were fixed on the flashing lights from a classic British Mini.
The flashing lights covers serve as reservoir for salt and pepper. On demand, the spices can be poured out of the casters through the holes of the phone-listener. The Taste of Talking Casters are a perfect example for how design out of common objects can create new products with humour and a bit of fantasy.
These innovative qualities from Taste of Talking have even entered the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The designer Henk Stallinga graduated in the Rietveld Academy. After he finished his studies there in the year 1994, he soon founded his own design-studio. Studio Stallinga BV became an internationally recognized design smithy. Designer Henk Stallinga (Studio Stallinga BV)
