When the designers Timothy and Jacob Jensen walked along Limfjord in the north part of Denmark, an oyster shell they found was the inspiration for their new and unique Tableware-series “Pearl”. With its expressive plates and cups, mouth blown glasses as well as shapely cutlery, “Pearl” is the perfect choice for design oriented lovers of perfectly served tables.

Already in the prehistoric time, people that lived at the Limfjord used the oysters shells like a plate. Today 6,000 years later, this masterpiece of nature mirrors completed aesthetic, and gave the impulse to a new comprehension of Danish design. The fascination of the history and the people as well as their sense for value of natural materials became the source for this asymmetric design of the Tableware-Series. “While the design process, we discovered that the unusual shaping of the plates also spent a wholly new haptic feeling offering more usage possibilities”, is what Timothy Jacob Jensen, leader of the international renowned Jacob Jensen design studio, said.

As homage to nature there is a blue point in every porcelain and glass article; that represents a pearl. While it is a noble point on the grip end in the Pearl cutlery series. The pearl stands for something precious, beautiful and unique, that we like to have near us. At the same time the Pearl is a harmonic contrast to asymmetric design. Or with other words, the point of departure for an organic balance, as Timothy Jacob Jensen said.

Whether the plate, mug, cup, glass or cutlery – all articles clearly wear the Jacob Jensen design philosophy: maximal creativity with minimal design.

The Tableware-Series does not only sharpen all our senses, it is like an oyster: unique. Regarded like that, to enjoy your meal with Pearl will also be a natural and individual pleasure, as Timothy Jacob Jensen emphasized.

All products are dishwasher safe; the porcelain is moreover microwave safe.
