A piece of hidden magic in the daily life

Iittalas cutlery series Taika is magical and awakes memories, which were forgotton for a long time already.

The very decorative design of the service-collection was designed by the design-newcomer Klaus Haapaniemi. Originally the design should decorate the Iittala-Series Aika by Heikki Orvola, but they were so impressed of the result, that they decided to launch a new cutlery series.

The colourful style of the Taika-series surprises the ones, for whom Iittala is the embodiment of traditional, nordic functionality and plain design.

And Taika is actually different: When I was a child, I loved to watch the little mole of the technical drawer Zdeněk Miler and many other East-European and Russian animation movies. I still like this handmade style of this animations. Also in the design of the Taika-Series this handmade-style is visible.

Taika offers a whole new facette to the usual Iittala-sortiment, but considers still the for Iittala known Mix & Match-Principle, which stands for a total combination freedom of all Iittala- products.

The Taika-cutlery is made of high quality porcelain and is good for the microwave use, and also antifreezing, oven- and dish washer safe.

Klaus Haapaniemi, born 1970, lives and works in London today. He illustrated and designed already for Diesel, Levis, Marimekko, Dolce & Gabanna or Cacharel and was named the most important newcomer for illustration and design by the WGSN. Designer Klaus Haapaniemi
