"Form follows function" is the design guideline for designers and architectes. With the principle in the back of the head the Finish designer Kaj Franck created the dish collection in 1952.

Entitled by the manufacturer Iittala itself as "meaningful simplicity", Teema surrenders on any ornamentati and decorations and is only reduced on the neccessary. Circle, quadrate, and rectangle are the basic forms, which Kaj Franck found so irresistible, that Teema became to a theme.

One of the most famous services of Scandinavia

Plain elegance and versatility make up the dish collection and make it to one of the most famous services in Scandinavia. Teema is freezing-proof, oven-proof and can be put in microwaves and dish washers. It can be combined with other dishes, through which an endless row of innovative and colourful tables can be build up.

With Teema you will not get the "Quadrate of the circles", but the undisputable classic, whos geometric shape can be seen in many design museums of the world.

People call Kaj Franck the conscience of Finnish design and he was one if the first designer at Iittala. Designer Kaj Franck
