Initially designed by Henning Koppel in silver in 1969, the No. 1164 tray has been produced in a limited extent. The sculpture-like expression expands the usage possibilities surmounting the borders of functional character. According to the inventor who, like only a few designers, understood how to elevate utile objects to real artworks.
Koppel has already been considered a design icon while he lived. He designed numerous innovative products for Georg Jensen, which made him the embodiment of the post-war Scandinavian “New Look” style and which manifested the exceptional position of the Danish silver smithy.
Henning Koppel was born in Copenhagen in 1918. Educated as a sculptor and designer at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he is perhaps one of the most important Scandinavian designers of the post-war-period. Since 1945, he worked for the renowned silv Designer Henning Koppel
