Carl Mertens - Sensitive vessel Balance

„Whether the vessel is half full or half empty.“ – Balance, the new bowl from Carl Mertens answers this classical question on an unusual way: it runs low in the real sense of the word. Balance is a sensitive drink glass as well as a decor and serving bowl.

Balance reacts to her insert: the less it is filled, the more it lows itself to the side. If it is refilled, it gets upright again. This has for a consequence that Balance shows the different states from full to empty – and it communicates with its user on a humorous way with an eye wink.

The hollow body insulates coolness and heat. Visually, Balance comes to be a pleasure for the eyes: the soft outer form, the round contours and the semi-matt stainless steel build an harmonic and outbalanced triad.
