Menu developed a tool that makes your wine breathe ideally. A decanting set that consists of a funnel, a sieve and three different tools that are placed on the pourer, according to how you want the wine to breathe, before it is served.
Most of the wines like to breathe a little sometimes, before they are enjoyed – ant it is rare enough that we open a wine a few hours before we are drinking it. And to completely adapt to the wine’s quality, we should sometimes maybe pass it to a carafe.
The interesting things at Menu’s decanter set are the three additional tools, with which wine might breathe differently:
• ”Tranquille” is a bent tube which makes wine slide slowly into the carafe. Therewith one reaches nearby the same effect as if the wine was directly poured from the bottle into the glass, but the decanter makes it easier to sieve the ground. The strainer catches any sediment. Recommended for older red wines.
• ”Spray” consists of a tube with five holes at the bottom. The wine will slide fan-like to all sides of the carafe, so that the wine gets a larger surface – so that it breathes more and deeply. It oxidizes the wine thoroughly by letting it float down all sides of the carafe. Appropriate for young, powerful wines.
• ”Oxidiser” is a completely new method. Similar ro a corkscrew with its “single” parts. It allows the wine to splash down into the carafe for complete oxidation. Well suited for young and rather fierce wines.
The decanting set has been designed by the Menu company. The designer Jakob Wagner says: “The set was thought as a multitool that suits every situation and every wine. With it every wine-enthusiast has joy by experimenting his own way of letting wine breathe, discovering it, before it is served.”
