The innovative plastic VarioLine® offers the exceptional design to the Nook stool from the Vial brand. A symbiosis of tension, arches and straight-lines.
If one asks a product designer after his desires for the best material characteristics, maybe his answer will be: the material has to be light and still robust, rigid but still flexible, god to work with and very stabile at the same time. In the best case it should naturally be weatherproof and UV-resistant. Accordingly excited from this material was Patrick Frey, Nook designer, when he found all this characteristics in the innovative plastic VarioLine®.
Nook is a swing-full statement with edges and borders. His design bribes with a symbiosis of arches and straight lines. A sculptural appearance full of dynamism and strong presence. It is also charming, mobile and weather proof Nook shows what makes convivial living this special. It is a great companion in every living situation.
Nook is made out of one piece: in a VarioLineTM-Board a fold pattern is milled in the back. Finally the stool is brought to its unusual form through a folding technique and it is fixed with an aluminium-closure at its base – entirely without gluing or welding. Because of the specialty of the material and the cooperation of tension and folding, a distinctive form speaking from Nook emerges. Made in Germany.
The material
VarioLineTM is a panel material that possesses a closed-cell foam core through high technology injection methods that is coated by two highly compressed, pore-free border layers. This makes the material light and still robust, rigid but flexible as well as weatherproof and UV resistant. Thanks to its long lasting usage in the vehicles industry and in the boat construction, the material has already made itself a good name. VarioLineTM is a new discovery for the furniture creation because of the unusual combination of its qualities. The material consists of polypropylene and is therefore easily recyclable.
Vial – Nook Stool was honoured with the IF Design Award in the year 2010.
The Vial Stool is also available in further colours.
