Brionvega - Doney TV

The Doney Television is a work from the year 1962 and it has also noticeably embossed the appearance of portable televisions. But this is not all: It also meant a huge innovation regarding technique, since it was the first television with transitory technology which was manufactured in Europe. As first media device in its time, the Doney TV won the desired “Compasso d’Oro”, also something really exceptional even for such a design team as Richard Sapper and Marco Zanuso.

Many wide steps which are still present today were already then unified in this compact device. A great reason for the Brionvega company to equip it with the most modern technology, to re-edit it and with it to delight its fans.

The Doney TV’s distinctive face full of recognition value is given by the somewhat idiosyncratic appearance, its compactness and the oversized display in relation to its whole size. Brionvega offers more than a portable TV then. Doney is an eye-catcher, a piece of history, a piece of modern life and a vivid witness of our culture’s development.

After the complete technical re-editing by Valerio Cometti, the Italian company Super//Fluo produces the Doney TV for Brionvega since 2007. The 299 pieces limited re-edition of the Doney TV tightly kept to the 1962 designed original’s form. Only the chromed base as well as the housing incorporated number would make us think of a re-design.

Only as long as stock lasts we present 2011 produced Doney Models in a silver housing on this site. Unfortunately these ones are the last televisions that are distributed under the label Brionvega. Since 2011 Brionvega stopped the production of the televisions until further notice. However, a reparation service is still ensured.
