At Connox we want to help sustainably and on a long-term basis. That is the reason why we accepted 20 godchildren. The company spends a monthly amount of 28€ for every child. Each employee becomes a sponsor and starts a personal connection to a child by means of sending letters, pictures or small gifts.
We haven’t chosen godchildren from Africa for nothing. The whole world is focusing Africa because of the current drought period and the consequent hunger suffering, the refugee flows and the political unrests in the north of the continent. Also in the future, the results of climate changes will especially be displayed in Africa; reason enough for us to support disadvantaged children.
All our godchildren come from the same area because we didn’t want to only aid individual children, but improve their surroundings effectively. The funds will hopefully help all children, also those of the immediate locality – schools, leisure institutions, health centers and awareness work for grownups will also be supported. Concluding, not only the child will profit from a sponsorship, but its whole environment.
Country, gender and language weren’t important. The Plan assigned us 20 girls from Mali. All of them come from the south of the continent.
Girls are especially disadvantaged in developing countries such as Mali. They have even less hope for education and less food as well as lower affection from their parents than their brothers. They will soon perform housework, get bad medical care and are in constant danger of sexual abuse.
Connox started the sponsorship for an indefinite period. The company’s and the employee’s concern is to ensure long-term and sustainable development. Our path towards this goal starts with 20 godchildren.
