Brit Insurance Design Award

The Brit Insurance Design Award is given by the Design Museum in London every year. It honors innovative, interesting and future-oriented works out of the most different categories out of the whole world.

The according exposition in the design museum takes place in March. About 100 projects are shown here, these are a selection of the nominated works.

The nominated designs are presented in seven categories: architecture, fashion, furniture, graphics, interaction, product and transport. The winners of the single categories are selected by an international jury and one whole winner will be honored with the “Brit Insurance Design of the Year 2009”.

The Design Museum in London is one of the world wide leading design museums that shows every kind of contemporaneous design: from furniture to graphs, architecture and industrial design.

Terence Conran founded the antecessor of the design museum, the Boilerhouse in the cellars of the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London 25 years before. The Boulerhouse grew steadily from 1989 on and had to move. In that movement it also received its current name.

The Design Museum made itself a duty to include design into cultural landscapes and to entertain and inform at the same time. Meanwhile it became a safe institution in the international design scene and more than 200,000 visitors pass the gates every year.
