Chris Slutter (1972) graduated at the Applied Arts and Design Academy AKI in Enschede in 1997. He won the Netherlands furniture award with his lamp’s design “Lazy” in the “Young Designer” category in the same year. Moreover he got an honor announcement in the “Industrial Product Quality” category.
Three years after his graduation Chris Slutter moved to Amsterdam, where he founded his own design office, where he still works as independent designer.
Slutter’s designs are the result of intensive research, looking for all kinds of possibilities of materials and craftsman techniques. Thereby a functional, transparent and quality base with a shaping that one understands instantly emerges. ”People have to understand what I do. A chair stays recognizable as chair, if one can sit comfortably on it.”
