De Pas, D'Urbino, Lomazzi Description

The activities of Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi lie in the areas of architecture, furnishing, interior design and product design, where it is cooperated with famous companies in Italy and worldwide. The atelier was founded together with Architect Jonathan De Pasm who deceased in 1991.

De Pas/D’Urbino/Lomazzi became famous by their furniture out of inflatable plastic, designed in the Pop Art style of the 60es. Besides their inflatable sofa from 1967, especially their chair “Blow” (1967) attracted attention; this one was designed by Zanotta.

As occupations in planning areas, theoretic works and cultural activities are focused. D’Urbino and Lomazzi are members of numerous competition juries today and also teach at Universities such as the Faculty for Design at the Politecnico in Milan and the IUAV in Venice. Their works are the historic literature for Italian design and documented in the most important international specialists magazines for architecture and industrial design.

Numerous works were exposed in permanent design collections in different museums of the world and were also adopted in changing expositions about Italian design.
