Phoenix Design Description

The Stuttgart Design Studio Phoenix Design was founded by Tom Schönherr and Andreas Haug in the year 1987. With 30 employees Phoenix belongs to the leading Design Studios in Germany. Ten product designers besides interface designers, surface designers and model workers – supported by a slim administration – build the professional background of the team.

The career from Andreas Haug and Tom Schönherr is closely linked to the rise of modern German design. They made the Phoenix Design Studio that was founded by them at the end of the 80es to one of the first addresses in the industrial and product design. ”What makes us important, are the motives and aims of our customers that includes us in their strategy as pulse generators. We try to ensure that the interaction between customers and extern experts-teams runs perfectly. We are happy to say that this is happening every time, partly over decades.”

In the best traditional classic German design is where the roots of Phoenix Design lay. Andreas Haug and Tom Schönherr define their design-philosophy as an attitude. Ethics and aesthetics, ecology, precision and innovation count to the ground values of this attitude. “Logic, Moral and Magic” is the magic formula from Phoenix Design.

The aim of every design is to create products that convince through its logic and function, that is user friendly and sustainable, that delights for a long time because of its magic and outlives the fugitive time spirit. An example for this philosophy is the new ventilator i:wing that Phoenix Design created in cooperation with the Coblenz company Bionic Motion.
