Regitze Overgaard was born in Denmark in 1946. She finished her apprenticeship as gold-smith in 1970 and finished her apprenticeship at the Copenhagen Arts and Crafts University in 1976. Since 1987 Overgaard worked for Georg Jensen and designed many successful jewelry-series of the company.
Regitze Overgaard was one of the path-makers of organic design, which attracted the attention of leading artists and designers rat the beginning of her career. Her inspiration source can emerge with the light of a Nordic summer sky or with water of cascades and over stones, or simply with a movement. Her jewelry has a fresh, modern character which spreads light and life with its distinctive elegance and pureness.
Regitze Overgaard works according to the motto that jewelry should be as simple as possible; the form of the metal and not external ornamentation should communicate artistic strength. A continuous connection to the human body is reflected in her works. This interplay of metal and carrier is important for each one of her treasures.
In Overgaard’s works, the form of the jewelry pieces respects the natural body-lines and accents them with the safe sense for style, elegance and individuality. Overgaard’s collections prove a sharp eye for sublime forms of nature.
