Exposition: Vitra shows organic design

The 30th of September is the date of the beginning of the exposition „BioMorph – Organic Design out of the collection of the Vitra Design Museum“. Works of international designers such as Carlo Mollino, Luigi Colani, Gaetano Pesce, Marc Newson and Konstantin Grcic are presented. The exposition lights different facets of organic design and shows that the concept “organic” goes along the whole design of the 20th century.

Generally organic design is associated with soft, flowing forms. Many designers are oriented by models of nature or use organic forms to optimize constructions or ergonomics in their designs. Especially the possibilities of new, picture offering methods of the computers that inspire the designers to experiment with organic forms and structures are what count. Organic design is more and more considered a synonym for sustainable design today, based on the respect to resources and the aesthetics of nature.

“BioMorph – Organic Design out of the collection of the Vitra Design Museum” can be seen until the 7th of January or 2012. The Vitra Design Museum is in the Charles-Eames Street 1 in Weil am Rhein. It is opened every day from 10 to 18 o’clock.
