Kaiser idell

The KAISER idell series that was designed from the German silversmith from the beginning of the 1930es, essentially embodies the diction of the Bauhaus-movement at that time. Dell, who worked as the foreman of the Bauhaus metal workshop in Weimar among others, is deemed to be one of the key figures of the Bauhaus style which also was an important influence for the Danish design. This is shown in the later works from Arne Jacobsen and Poul Kjærholm whose designs show obvious elements of the Bauhaus shaping.

The asymmetric appearance of the KAISER idell reflector screens is a considerably characteristic of the whole lamp collection. The reflector made out of high quality steel is available in the unmistakable original colours. With great efforts and skills it is high gloss lacquered and afterwards polished by hand.

With its unsurpassed clear design, the precise construction and therefore high artistic handicraft of manufacture, the lamps from the KAISER idell series are 100% original, absolutely timeless and this makes them sustainable and stable in value.

Even television popularity is what the lamps received. In numerous versions they appear since the 1960es again and again on the TV screen. Especially present they were on the desk of the famous TV-commissioner and investigators. Therefore the table model 6631 is also lovingly called “commissioner lamp”.

The KAISER idell series consists of table, stand, ceiling and wall lamps and was integrated in the Republic of Fritz Hansen collection in the year 2010.
