The philosophy of the chief designer Kouichi Okamoto is “simple design with simple ideas”.

“That’s just ingenious, I should’ve had this idea myself” – that’s probably the first thing that comes to one’s mind when looking at the designs by the Japanese design newcomer.

One example is a lamp, which consists of a rubber balloon and an LED lamp. Basically, the balloon lamp is a very simple idea but it also comes with a very nice light.

The CV of Kouichi Okamoto is just as curious as his designs. He has thought himself all the design gimmicks and he never went to a design school. Kouichi Okamoto has been a successful DJ for a long time and today he is the CEO and chief designer at Kyouei-Design. He often creates his designs together with his wife Ayako Nakanishi.
The simple and well-shaped objects have often appealed at design exhibitions like the New York ICFF or the 100% Design in Tokyo.
