„Kortrijk“ – that’s the name of the place that accommodates one of the hippest design studios in the world. The small town lies in Flanders, Belgium and Arne Quinze is the one behind Quinze & Milan. He is the founder and the art director of the company and he is also an international design star, who also works for Moroso.

Quinze designs on his own or together with guest designers from diverse disciplines and his objects exude pure energy. This effect is probably also due to the founder’s youth, which was quite eventful. At the age of 15 he was known as a graffiti artist living on the streets and he was a member of a biker gang. This also had an impact on his personality as an adult as well as on his designs. Quinze is a non-conformist, who turns his unorthodox views into creative energy.

The young company’s area of focus is fancy seating furniture that is already successful all over the world. Polyurethane foam has developed to be the company’s favourite material (often it’s very colourful). Examples for this can be found in the “Hotel Fox”, Copenhagen or in the inspiring Seattle Public Library by Rem Koolhaas, where the seating system Seattle Cross invites to comfortably reading a book.
