Southern States Flair from New York City
Pete Oyler is an U.S. American designer from the Southern States. He holds a BA in American Studies and an MFA in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Today, he lives and works in New York City and leads successfully a Creative Studio, together with the designer Nora Mattingly. In 2012 Oyler was named one of Forbes Magazine’s Top 30 Under 30 for Art & Design and is one of the most influential young designers in recent years.
As a versatile designer and thinker from the southern States Pete Oyler is particularly interested in design semiotics and in the potential of three-dimensional objects to incite imaginative curiosity. Also, he serves as the creative director and co-editor of Outpost Journal, an annual, non-profit print publication on innovative art, design and community based art activism from cities that have been traditionally underexposed beyond their local context.
