BD Barcelona Design is the Spanish company with one of the highest international prestige in design. It was founded in 1972 as Bd Ediciones de Diseño by the architects and interior designers Pep Bonet, Cristian Cirici, Lluis Clotet, Mireia Riera and Oscar Tusquets.
The young artists wanted to port Spanish design into the future – moved by their frustration bout how design was considered from their country back then. This frustration made the conviction grow, that furniture can be more than only utile – their design philosophy is still current and making BD different than their competitors.
The Dalilips Sofa became exceptionally famous in that time, which was designed by one of the BD founders Oscar Tusquets and the legendary artist Salvador Dalí. For those of you who have already seen the sofa looking like two lips, you won’t forget it that fast!
Renowned contemporaneous designers work for the Spanish design flagship, like Ross Lovegrove who designed the renowned BD Love Collection, and the Munich Konstantin Grcic.
