Progetto Oggetto is a collection from the Italian manufacturer Cappellini. It has been created by Jasper Morrison and James Irvine in 1992. Progetto Oggetto includes products whose design is simple and adaptable. The idea behind the collection is to design products that can easily be integrated into every furnishing. That is how Progetto Oggetto should contribute to the general distribution of design.
Each product gets a special name when it is included in the Progetto Oggetto collection. The name serves as a sort of serial number; that is why the product’s names sound similar. The umbrella stand from Jeffrey Bernett has, for example, the name PO/9901. The abbreviation PO stands for Progetto Oggetto and identifies the product as a part of this series. The first two numbers do thereby refer to the design year, 1999 in this case.
In the Progetto Oggetto collection there are products of numerous namely designers. The designs partly originated in a time where the star designers from today were newcomers. Among others, Ronan Bouroullec, Thomas Ericksson, Marcel Wanders, Tom Dixon, Jeffrey Bernett and of course the iniciator Jasper Morrison added designs to the Cappellini collection.
