Light, more than any other element defines the identity and the personality of a space and the people who live inside it. Light reflects the atmosphere, expresses feelings and interprets activity, silence, happiness, unrest, illusion, sensuality, peace, movement.
The Spanish family business Carpyen was established in 1954 and started with the designs by Antonio Carpintero y Encarnación Celdrán. The company was completely restructured after Roberto Carpintero joined the management in 1972: the cooperation with renowned designers such as Pascual Salvador or Gabriel Teixidó who were included in the design and development process for the lights led to a sustained success for Carpyen. Many of the lamps that were designed back then are still to be found in the Carpyen product range today such as the standard lamp Galilea which won the silver “Delta De Plata” design prize in 1995. Carpyen since it was founded in 1984, has also become a member of the Spanish SIDI Group, which has made it its aim to strengthen the links between producers and designers, between customers, sales departments and interior decorators and to improve the conditions for product exhibitions.
