As early as the 1960s, the Finn Tapio Wirkkala developed the design for the Ultima Thule collection, where he was inspired by the melting glaciers of Lapland. The name also refers to this source of inspiration, as Ultima Thule is called the northernmost land point in the world.
During the manufacturing process, liquid glass encloses the wooden models intended for this purpose. Depending on how the glass behaves, the objects therefore differ in nuances, which makes each piece truly unique. Meanwhile, the Ultima Thule collection is considered a classic and an excellent example of Finnish glass craftsmanship.
In the form of tealight holders, the glass structure can unfold its full potential as the fire creates a unique reflection in the glass, creating a cosy atmosphere.
